I'm sorry I forgot to update the blog last night. It slipped my mind with monitoring the first night that students were on Edmodo.
Please remember: you are having a "not so" pop quiz tomorrow or Friday over identifying the strands of social studies and identifying which strand specific example relate to.
SSlogs are due on Friday! This is a performance task grade. Labels for strands & title are in my room as are stickers for your name. Use the rubric! I have more rubrics if you need to ask for one tomorrow.
Parent codes are written in the back the students ISN. Each student has a different parent code.
Tomorrow I will have the Edmodo accounts set up for students absent or without forms yesterday (who put the information in the red basket).
If you haven't brought in the permission forms yet, I can still sign you up as soon as I get the forms back.
I'm so excited about the collaboration that has already starting happpening
Please remember LMMS Spiriit Night at the Atlanta Braves game on September 26th! Order tickets by September 7th! Mrs. Wilkes & I are still working on getting the form put on the LMMS website, but it was in this week's PTSA e-mail blast. I also have copies available here at school!
Good afternoon! Today we worked on setting up your Interactive Student Notebooks (ISNs) for ACSS. We will add a few more things to the Roman Numeral Section tomorrow & then be ready to roll!
Tomorrow we will also go to the 6th grade computer lab to set up Edmodo accounts for those who have returned forms.
Homework: 1) Bring your spiral (ISN) daily! 2) SSlog cover & meaty explanations due Friday! 3) Bring any remaining Edmodo permission forms.
LMMS Spirit Night at the Atlanta Braves is coming!!
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, September 26th! Details about ordering Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research shirts for our Four Quarters for Research week will be coming by the end of next week! The ticket order form went out in this week's PTSA e-mail blast & will be on the school website by tomorrow!
Agendas were given out today in Homeroom!!!
You received Edmodo information for ACSS today. If you are going to use Edmodo, you must bring back the white parent permission form and the blue "Edmodo Student Code of Conduct" form. The green sheet with "Edmodo Guidelines' stays AT HOME.
We will begin setting up your Interactive Student Notebooks (ISN) tomorrow using the heavy-duty, college-ruled notebook. You saw today how "perfectly" the college ruled fits. I know many of you are using an "IAN" in science class, however the ISN is set up & numbered differently.
You will also have the first half of class tomorrow to work more on your SSlog. I will share some examples of explanations to help you get started with the explanations.
On Monday I will do a locker check to make sure all "at home" SS textbooks are AT HOME. I know many of you still have this in your locker. They get damaged & take up space. We have a complimentary class set provided by the textbook publisher to use at school. If you have not taken home the book (& left it there) by Monday, I will mark your Eagle Card for failure to follow directions. I'm sorry to have to take this approach, but people are not following the agenda & blog instructions in addition to numerous oral reminders.
Homework: 1) SS heavy-duty, collge-ruled spiral must be here tomorrow for class. Also, bring the signed FYI sheet & syllabus if you have it from Open House. 2) Bring back your white & blue Edmodo sheets! 3) Your SSlog is NOT due tomorrow. You will have all next week to finish that up outside of class.
Good afternoon! We had a homework check today for the sports articles & 5 strands connections from last night.
Tomorrow you will get the Edmodo registration information for ACSS.
There is no homework tonight except:
1) bring old magazines tomorrow (if you want/can)
2) have your spiral notebook in class tomorrow
3) turn in your book contract if you haven't already
The SS textbook stays AT HOME!!!! :)
Good afternoon! Open House is tomorrow night beginning with PTSA & Mrs. Wilkes in the theater at 6:30. The evening will conclude at 8:00.
Today we continued a few traditions & did a huge portion of our interactive lecture. We will finish this up tomorrow & move to the "other" side of the "Hit me with your best shot!" sheet.
You received your textbook today in class. This is an AT HOME textbook. Please return the book contract by Thursday. Some of you are taking your SS book home (to leave there) tomorrow since you had to take home math & science books that were issued today.
Please make sure you have your composition book for SS in class tomorrow.
We will be needing magazines later this week (especially news & travel) if you have any you can contribute to the cause. These will be cut up & not returned.
Good afternoon! If you have returned your green "Receipt of Information" sheet & the yellow "Student Information/Emergency Contact Form" to your Homeroom teacher, you will receive your LOCKER tomorrow morning! Please bring these items & the Performing Arts permission form (with or without money) to homeroom. There will still be a locker reserved for you, but it can't be issued it until you return the green & yellow forms.
There is no homework tonight except to work on securing your supplies (see earlier posts). Composition books are on sale for $0.50 at Kroger. Mead 5 Star Spiral Notebooks (college rule) are Buy One Get One Free until Saturday at Walgreens.
Good afternoon! Today you "Hit me with your best shot!" to show me what you already know as far as the actual strands/domains that make up social studies.
For homework you need to complete your SS puzzle piece for tomorrow. The directions are on the back of your puzzle piece. Make sure the arrow points up (north) so your puzzle piece isn't upside down or sideways. Also, crayon melts & makes a big smeared mess. You will put the puzzle together tomorrow & then explore the things that make up SS.
Good evening! I am excited to welcome you to my AC Social Studies class! I look forward to a GREAT year together!
Please complete your SS Interest Inventory (both sides) & your light blue "All About You" sheet by Wednesday.
Please also work on obtaining composition book by next Monday & a Mead 5-Star Composition Book (150 page minimum & COLLEGE-rule) by next Thursday, Auguest 23rd. You will also need gluesticks for use at home & school. Please see the 1/2 from class or Meet & Greet for additional details.
